I started this interior design studio in 2018 in Indonesia but am now based in Singapore. Many have asked me the meaning of KOÜM and the reason behind naming the studio KOÜM. So here's a little background...
I graduated from the UK with a degree in Accounting and Finance and started my career with one of the Big 4 accounting firms. 5 years later, I decided that the corporate life wasn't for me and ventured out to start my first business in fitness. Another 5 years passed, I found my Christian faith, sold my business, went to ministry school and then went back to Indonesia to manage my family business.
During my time in Indonesia, I was able to pursue my passion in interior design - I love transforming spaces and seeing vision come to life. When I finally made the decision to leave my family business, I made the leap of faith to start my own interior design studio.
KOÜM in Hebrew means "Arise". The studio was born at a time when I needed my faith to ARISE. A career change is never easy but I remember asking myself, "If there is one thing I can do for the rest of my life, what will it be?" This was it. I want to build and renovate houses. I want to see transformation in the "before" and "after". With that, it is my hope that every house KOÜM Home designs and builds will be a representation of the goodness of God in the lives of the people who live in it.
It takes more than a designer to build a home and I am so grateful for this strong team of men who have been doing the hard labour for me since the beginning. Because of them, I have never missed a deadline nor handed over a substandard home. In this line of work, where many have been taken advantage of, both designers and customers alike, I have been blessed to work with some of the best and responsible people in the industry.
